Tamil is an old language, but why don't they have their own Tamil numbers?
World people are not known the proper history of the old World. suppose the world should know history with Tamizh history also. If worlds are omitting Tamizh history than the world will create wrong history only.

Numbers - எண் - numerical.
To day the world people pronounced words which are mostly based on Tamizh root words. Tamizh vocabulary only helps to communicate properly.
The same way all numbers sound and its forms are borned in Tamizh.
The old culvert numbers are tranferred to arabic during sea trading with various countries but the mediator is Arabic people.
The old culvert nos were derived from Tamizh actual letters with some modifications. Tamil actual letters were modified and inline with numericals profile also changed. The old culvert profile reached to Europeans and retain its profile with less modification.
