How is the "Agal wood" name derived?

"agallocha அகில்/agil woodagallocha"" (or more accurately, ""agallochum"" in Late Latin) refers to the fragrant, resinous wood of the Aquilaria tree, also known as eaglewood or agarwood.

The Tamils of the Sangam period used ships called navai and bangam to go abroad and trade and buy war horses and other goods they needed and imported them.

Kurinji plants and kanthal plants are notable. There are bamboo bushes. Trees such as vengai, thimisu, teak, sandalwood, agil, kadambu, and karung kali grew. Among the birds, peacocks and parrots are notable. There were animals like tiger, elephant, leopard, bear, wild boar, monkey etc. Their life was hard, their food production was not sufficient, it was very poor. They sold mountain honey, elephant ivory, tiger skin, kudu, wood, sandalwood. Their trade was barter. Their natural environment was not suitable for civilization.
In sea trade, agil wood was exported to foreign countries.
